VOLTAGE DROP ACROSS RESISTOR CALCULATOR
Enter the following values and press Calculate to find the voltage drop:
Vin- Input Voltage – This is the main Supply Voltage. R1-R2 are the resistor in series with power source.
Output Voltage – This is the calculated Output Voltage across each resistor.
For manual calculation, You can use the below formulas applicable 2 resistors in series or just derive from ohms law V=IR
V1 = (R1 / (R1 + R2)) x V
V2 = (R2 / (R1 + R2)) x V
whereas, V is the Source voltage, R1 and R2 are the two resistors across which V1 and V2 are the voltages drop on each resistors respectively.
Also, for 3 resistor setup you can directly use below formula:
V1 = (R1 / (R1 + R2 + R3)) x V
V2 = (R2 / (R1 + R2 + R3)) x V
V3 = (R3 / (R1 + R2 + R3)) x V
whereas, R1, R2 and R3 are the resistors across which V1, V2 and V3 are the voltages drop on each resistors respectively.
